Hello and welcome, domani friends & family!
 
This is the 1st of what will become an ongoing series of emails to everyone of you who has begun a journey of wellness through domani salon & spa & Advocare.  My name is Lisa and Advocare has been an amazing addition to my life since I discovered it back in March, 2012.  I am 40 years old and have a 4 year-old son so you can only imagine what my energy requirements are!  Advocare has made some things possible for me that I believe otherwise would not have been:  a complete energy turnaround, more toned muscles throughout my body, and the desire to challenge myself in ways I never had before.  All of these things compelled me to run a couple of half-marathons this year and I don’t plan on stopping with that.  My 2 favorite Advocare products are Spark and MNS-3.  But enough about me.  You can find me at domani salon & spa most days and I welcome everyone who wishes to talk to me in person.
 
Since this is my 1st email, my wellness tip for the week is naturally the most elementary.  BREATHE.  Not just the short, quick, shallow kind that we do all day every day.  I’m talking about the deep and deliberate kind which will expand your abdomen as you take it in.  And get outside to enjoy this whenever possible.  There won’t be too many days left this season when this will be such an enticing idea – so take every opportunity you can.  NOW.
 
That brings me to Thanksgiving right around the corner.  With just a couple days remaining for last minute preparations, I’d like to throw out there 1 healthy alternative to a traditional holiday favorite.  This is something you can feel much less guilty about when you go back for seconds.  And I love it so much I make it every year.
 
Wild Rice Stuffing
 
Cooking spray
1 1/2 c. chopped celery
1 c. chopped onion
1 c. uncooked wild rice
2 garlic cloves, minced
4 c. fat-free, reduded sodium chicken broth
1 1/2 Tbsp.chopped fresh sage or 1 t. dry
1 c. uncooked long-grain brown rice
1/2 c. dried sweet cherries
1/2 c. chopped dried apricots
1/2 c. chopped pecans, toasted
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. pepper
Heat Dutch oven over med-hi heat.  Coat pan w/ cooking spray. Add celery, onion, wild rice, & garlic to pan; saute 3 minutes.  Stir in broth & sage; bring to a boil.  Cover reduce heat, simmer 25 minutes.  Stir in brown rice & bring to a boil.  Cover, reduce heat, and cook 30 minutes or until liquid is absorbed.  Remove from heat; let stand, covered, 10 minutes.  Stir in cherries and remaining ingredients.  Serves 12-ish.  😉
