why professional products?!?!

Have you ever wondered WHY your stylist talks to you about products when you’re in their chair?

It’s simply because you invest in your haircuts, haircolors, etc…. but it goes further than just 1x a month… it’s a daily investment.

INVEST IN YOUR HAIR, IT’S THE CROWN YOU NEVER TAKE OFF!!!

We as stylists know it can seem just like that, an investment when you price compare what the consumer prices is and the professional price.

A question that is often times asked “is there really a difference in salon brands or are you just paying for the name?”

THERE. IS. A. DIFFERENCE!!!

  • The concentration and quality of ingredients is MUCH higher.  You need less each time you using it, which will make it last much longer & save you money in the end!
  • pricier because they are concentrated with high grade ingredients
  • there are vitamins, minerals and essential oils that are truly nourishing and hydrate the hair from the inside out!

WHY DOES MY HAIR FEEL SO SOFT WITH STORE BOUGHT PRODUCTS?

  • a silicone (plastic) is coating the outside strand of your hair, which make it hard to hydrate from the inside out.
  • often times fillers are used to create the products to offer a rich lather but in return is very drying to the hair
  • next time you’re in (if you’re using over the counter shampoos).. ask your stylist to do a strand test and see if you have silicone build up on your hair.

In the end, even though store bought products are appealing to the eye, convenient and have a nice aroma… they are not nice to your hair!

if you haven’t already, make the transition to professional products and your hair, scalp and crown will THANK YOU!

stop by domani and ask for a sample, our team would love to send you home with a sample to try in your own shower.  we want to make sure you love it before you purchase it!

HOW TO: beach waves…..

1. First, prep the hair with 7SECONDS Detangler.

2. Then follow up with a little SMOOTH&SHINE

3. Round brush hair, giving a smooth but voluminous blow-out.

4. Once dry, add TEXTURIZA to the roots to get that instant lift.

5. Take a 1 1/4″ curling iron and curl everything in front of the ear away from the face. Once you get to the back of the ear start alternating the direction of the curl.
Take thin long sections and leave an 1″ to an 1 1/2″ of the ends out and smooth it out with the iron.
To finish the look, shake out the waves and add more TEXTURIZA to the ends.

cupping massages…

Domani has introduced Cupping therapy into our massages.

Cupping is a  traditional, time-honored treatment which is favored by millions of people worldwide because of it’s safe, comfortable, remarkable results effective for many health disorders.

Cupping therapy is the method of using glass or plastic cups to create localized pressure by a vacuum.  The Chinese have been doing this since ancient times by using heat inside glass or bamboo cups.  Nowadays, cupping sets use suction to create the vacuum.  The vacuum inside the cups causes the blood to form in the area and help the healing in that area.

Ancient Chinese medicine have believed that the body contains “Meridians”.  These meridians are pathways in the body which the energy of life called Qi (“chi”) flows through.  It flows through every body part, tissue, and organ.  Cupping therapy is mainly performed on one’s back because there are five meridians on your back.  When these meridians are opened, the internal energy is able to flow through the whole body.

Another healing aspect of cupping therapy is through the release of toxins in your body.  The suction from the cups can penetrate deep into your tissues causing the tissues to release harmful toxins.  It triggers the lymphatic system, clears the blood vessels, and stretches and activates the skin.

Cupping therapy has been found in ancient records dating back 3500 years and it is still used today by many. Through suction, the skin is drawn into the cup by creating a vacuum in the cup placed on the skin over the targeted area. The cupping removes harmful substances and toxins from the body to promote well-being.

People receive the cupping therapy for many reasons. Some include but are not limited to inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and deep- tissue massage.

Your massage therapist at domani salon & spa will discuss the option to integrate the cupping technique COMPLIMENTARY into your 60 or 90 minute massage session!!!

why you pay for experience

why education is so important in our industry… and why we have different tiered pricing at domani.

You see,  just an everyday short haircut and style is different than the MORE MODERN SHORT HAIRCUT and styles. There are more expectations with the new styles as far as versatility & texture.  After the haircut, the stylist should be able to show you many different ways in which you can style your new cut. Some will be fun, new and energetic and others will be more conservative and natural. This will allow the guest to be able to wear their hair to fit the occasion.

♥ All hair cutting takes training.

♥ All good haircuts need great training.

However, we feel at domani that short, modern haircuts need great training and years of experience.

We feel this way because in order to have your hair move in the directions that the style requires the hair must be cut and texturized in a way that only experienced stylist can provide.

At domani we are so fortunate to have hairstylists of all experience levels, ranging from: fresh out of beauty school, going through our domani training program to stylists with over 30 years of experience.  As we stated above… sometimes those short, textured haircuts require experience and lots of training!!!

dermaplaning now at domani!!!

Dermaplaning, also known as leveling the skin or simply blading, is performed to manually exfoliate the skin and involves the use of a sterile surgical blade, known as a dermatome. The dermatome is held against taut skin at a 45-degree angle and stroked in a manner similar to shaving. This method removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells, leaving the skin smooth and supple. Dermaplaning is usually only performed on the face and generally excludes any blading of the nose, eyelids, neck, and chest. Furthermore, it is recommended that the procedure be done every 2 to 4 weeks, which coincides with a normal skin cycle of approximately 30 days. Along with sloughing away dead skin cells, dermaplaning can help reduce the visibility of acne scarring and slight wrinkling, as well as remove vellous (translucent) hairs on the face, commonly known as ‘peach fuzz’. Domani salon and spa offers dermaplaning by a licensed aesthetician for our guests!

dermaplaning, facials, beautiful skin

  • WHO IS IT FOR?

Dermaplaning is recommended for all skin types except those with acneic skin. If you have deep cystic acne, wait until breakouts are clear before trying this treatment. As always, also discuss any allergies or skin sensitivities before starting a treatment.

This is a great treatment if you are pregnant or nursing and want exfoliation without the risk of harsh chemicals absorbing into the blood stream and potentially harming your baby.

  • WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT FEEL LIKE?

Dermaplaning is a painless procedure and can be compared to the sensation of shaving your legs, but in this case, it’s on your face.

First, the aesthetician will cleanse and thoroughly dry your skin. Next, she’ll pull an area of your skin taut with one hand, and hold a sterile 10 gauge blade at a 45 degree angle in the other hand and use short, swift strokes to scrape off dead skin cells and peach fuzz.

  • HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

About 30 minutes

  • ARE THERE IMMEDIATE SIDE EFFECTS?

There are no side effects and zero downtime. After the treatment, your skin will be highly sensitive to sun exposure and may already look very pink, so be sure to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation.

  • WHAT ARE ANTICIPATED RESULTS?

You’ll immediately look more radiant with a more even skin tone and texture. All of your peach fuzz will be gone, which is why first-timers say their skin has never felt so soft before.

  • RECOMMENDED COURSE FOR OPTIMAL RESULTS?

Dermaplaning removes 21 days worth of dead skin cells, so it’s best to allow the skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle before your next treatment.

  • PRICING

$59 45 minute service

$40 add it to your next facial service
